PLUG Charging secures full NICEIC accreditation across all three registration schemes

PLUG Charging has achieved accreditation with NICEIC, the UK’s largest electrical contracting certification body, across all three of the schemes relevant to its work: Approved Contractor, EV Charge Point Installer and Domestic Installer.

The accreditations follow independent on-site assessment of PLUG’s installations, technical procedures, test equipment and management systems against BS 7671, the UK national standard for electrical installation.

NICEIC registration is not a one-off badge: registered contractors are re-assessed on a regular cycle to confirm they continue to meet the standard.

For PLUG’s clients, the practical effects are immediate. Approved Contractor status is the recognised benchmark for commercial and public sector electrical contracting, and is routinely required at pre- qualification stage by local authorities, fleet operators and developers. EV Charge Point Installer certification covers the specific competencies involved in charge point installation. Domestic Installer registration brings PLUG onto the Part P Competent Person Scheme, meaning the company can self-certify its own domestic work and handle Building Control notification directly — removing a step, and a cost, from the customer.

Founded in 2023, PLUG designs, installs and operates charging infrastructure ranging from lamp column and workplace chargers to rapid hubs, solar carports and integrated off-grid solutions. The accreditations apply the same assessed standard across that whole range, from a single residential charger to a multi-bay public hub.
